Indigenous Geothermal Symposium 2026 (Calgary)
The symposium will feature a series of sessions designed to explore the cultural, technological, and environmental aspects of geothermal energy. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the latest advancements in geothermal technology, share their experiences and insights, and collaborate on developing strategies that respect and incorporate Indigenous perspectives.
This event aims to create a platform for Indigenous voices to be heard, fostering a global dialogue on the potential and challenges of geothermal energy development in Indigenous territories.

Wider Energy System Benefits from Geothermal Workshop

This interactive workshop, organised by IEA Geothermal and led by Sarah Robinson (DESNZ), explores the wider system benefits of geothermal energy beyond cost and carbon.
Participants will discuss topics such as energy system integration, flexibility, energy security, and socio-economic impacts, moving beyond traditional evaluation metrics. The session includes presentations, panel discussions, and interactive group work.
Geothermal Gas Management Workshop

International Underground Thermal Energy Storage (UTES) Symposium

Co-organised by the GEOTHERMICA Initiative and IEA Geothermal, this symposium explores the role of underground thermal energy storage (UTES) in enabling a flexible, resilient, and low-carbon energy system.
